Teddy Bear Coat

Starting off here with an ode to this teddy bear coat.  It is a trend that I hope repeats itself every fall/winter because it is the perfect baby-its-cold-outside piece.  I could cuddle with it.  I could sleep in it.  I could live in it.  Kinda am.  This particular one is from Topshop.com but apparently sold out everywhere.  Fret not, I have linked some comparable options.  Hope you are able to find love below.  Just a heads up, I plan on wearing this with everything this season which means you’ll be seeing it frequently on le blog and l’Instagram… and wherever else.  Now that that’s settled.

We’ve been seeing red lately, no?  I haven’t gone as far as a full-on monochrome red look yet, but could in the future.  In the meantime, these patent red booties have been fulfilling their role, giving my #00td that perfect pop of color.  I, personally, adore pops of color on my feet.  I find it to be subtle but fun.

This Majorelle top is my wardrobe’s latest transitional weather staple.  Whether you’re basking in the summer sun, or layering it for fall — you get versatility.  As you see here, I’ve paired it with jeans, booties and a heavy teddy coat.  And, we are planning a beach getaway, and I’m so packing this for a warmer weather #ootd.  Would look adorbs with some cut-off jean shorts or high waisted slacks.

Who doesn’t fancy some French flair in their wardrobe.  The beret trend seems to come and go, but for now it’s here to say.  If you can rock it, rock it.  Doesn’t mean it’s for everyone though… I gave it a twirl, and haven’t decided if it’s for me yet.  (I may have looked like a confused cadet in it.)

By now you have probably figured out my comfort zones. I tend to stick with fall hues on my face any time of year, but I double down on them during the fall.   We may be on hiatus from sunbathing escapades, but we can still glow year-round.  Who’s with me.  So.. earthy hues and glowy skin was my goal for this look.  Now before I jump to my face-make-and-bake process, I must make this PSA — nothing that you haven’t heard before, but worth repeating.  Good glow starts with good skin.  So, I am always refining my morning and night skincare routines.  Love your skin, ladies.  Love your skin.

Face: I start by prepping my skin with a foundation primer, and my favorite remains Smashbox’s photo finish primer.  To create a smoother base for my concealer, I dab a little bit of the Biossance Rose Oil –which I shared in this post— around my eyes.  I don’t wear foundation daily.  I reserve it for events, dinners, parties, or photo shoots, and my go-to is Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation. If it’s not broken, why fix it?!  I dab the foundation into my skin with a moist beauty blender.  I follow that up with Nars cream concealer in custard, also gently dabbing it into my skin with the beauty blender.  To set the concealer, I use Laura Mercier’s secret magic powder.

Eyes:  I turned up the color scheme a notch or two this time,  mixing in darker browns and burgundy.  Bold move, I know.  I primarily used Anastasia Beverly Hills “Subculture” and “Modern Renaissance” palettes to create this look.  My goal was a multi-dimensional monochrome look.  On the center of my lid, you’ll find “fudge” with “rowdy” in my crease.  I carried these shades into my lower lash-line. I steered away from my usual matte eye this time for the shimmery sheen of “adorn” which I pressed into the crease.  From the “Modern Renaissance” palette I gently swept “golden ochre” around my crease which nicely blends the darker colors into my lower brow bone area.

Cheeks:  I almost always opt for Nars bronzer in the shade “Casino” and I apply it using my Nars kabuki brush to get that cheek definition.  I lightly dab Nars blush in the shade “Orgasm” on my upper cheeks, and finish it off with a touch of Anastasia Beverly Hills “So Hollywood” highlighter.  Do it for the glow.

Lips:  When in doubt, soar.  This subtle pink lippy is achieved with MAC Cosmetics lip liner in the color “soar” with Dior Addict Lip Glow Pomade gently dabbed on top.

To finish off the face,  I dust on that magical Laura Mercier translucent powder, largely in my t-zone area.  And, finally, I spray urban decay’s all-nighter setting spray.  Voila.

Thanks for reading, and I am sure you’re prepping for some Black Fri/Cyber Mon shopping.  I’m going to be gentle with the online shopping this year… (I’m saying this solely for the benefit of the mr.).

Happy Thanksgiving, and happy shopping!
