Loving Lately: Skin to Coat

I want to start by saying mea culpa for not posting sooner!  My sister is visiting from Jakarta, so I’ve been busy with family, and we just got back from a trip to Mexico.  Now let’s get down to business. New year, fresh start.  I want to share what I’ve been loving lately as part of my “loving lately” blog series launched in Nov (which you can read here).  No surprise that the series is being continued with skincare products.  But, in case you haven’t noticed from my Instagram stories — I’ve been on a coat buying binge so sharing that too. I’m a self-proclaimed skincare product junkie.  Perhaps it’s the byproduct of age.  I hear turning 30 makes you do crazy things… like seeing fine lines where there aren’t any… #guilty.  Anyhow, you know…

#2018

Happy day 3 of the New Year!  I know I’m a little late to the party, but we have had a busy few days with the kids.  Anyhow, I hope you had a fabulous NY celebration.  Ours was low key.  Solaiman and I decided to stay in, eat good food, and relax.  So perfect for us. At this point, you have probably been inundated with posts about New Year’s resolutions.  You know — the posts about how to make 2018 yours, to better yourself, to make vision boards, so on and so forth.  My two cents.  You don’t need a new year to be a new or improved you.  We have the option to reset and reframe at any point during the year.  I always wondered about the go-all-out resolution-setting on December 31.. even…

Me at 30

Today is my 30th birthday.  Thirty… wtf.  I’m actually having trouble starting this Post and I rarely have trouble finding my words.  Ask my husband… or anyone that knows me.  I thought about writing a reflection piece on 30 things I have learned by age 30… but realized no one wants to fcking read all that.  So let’s keep it short-ish and sweet. Not sure if this is a Capricorn thing, but my birthday feels like the most important holiday of the year.  Christmas what?  I like to think I’m not alone and all Capricorns want everyone to know it’s our birthday and how they can help us celebrate.  Right? So let’s get started.  I have obviously discovered, realized and learned a lot for the last 30 years of my life as basic as…

Platforms Are Back

The 90s aren’t making a major comeback in today’s fashion, the 90s already made its comeback.  From mom jeans, to velvet everything, to oversized plaid — 90s fashion has made a resurgence and I’m not mad about it one bit.  But what in particular was all the rage in the 90s?  Besides the Spice Girls, of course.  The platform shoe.  Duh.  It dominated the decade, would you agree or would you agree. I’ve been feeling nostalgic so I pulled out these platform patent booties I purchased years ago — by years ago I mean way after the 90s (if I tried wearing these as an 11 year old in the 90s, my mom would’ve surely knocked me upside the head with them.  She kept me dressed like a first grader until senior year of high…

Why I Started Blogging

I am hitting a milestone birthday very soon.  As I reflect on the year, and my life thus far — part of that reflection touches on this blog.  Why did I start blogging?  The answer is simple.  I started blogging so that I become the next Aimee Song or Chiara Ferragni.  Kidding.  Sorta.  Let’s be real though.  I wouldn’t be the least bit upset if I ended up on their level.  I mean would you?! Listen I don’t have any illusions about this thing called blogging.  The blogosphere is a saturated space that requires a great deal of under-eye bags (and real bags), sweat, tears, and lots of shoes and fabric to make it a thriving career.  For some a career in blogging is meant to be and for some it’s not.  I’m not here…

Super Wide Leg Trousers

Statement Trousers Holiday dresses are all the buzz, lately.  But, how about we pause for a moment and admire these statement pants.  Better yet, why not kick the holiday dress to the curb for a pair of super wide leg pants.  I suspect it’ll be a crowd pleaser.  The best part is this is a silhouette you can wear to just about anywhere.  They are also that power piece that every woman should own in their wardrobe.  Wear them to the office with a blazer and heels, casually with a tee or crop hoodie and sneakers — the options are endless. If you haven’t snagged a pair, it’s not too late. These H&M ones are sold out, but you can find similar ones here and here (and more affordable here; and one almost identical to…

Teddy Bear Coat

THE PERFECT TEDDY Starting off here with an ode to this teddy bear coat.  It is a trend that I hope repeats itself every fall/winter because it is the perfect baby-its-cold-outside piece.  I could cuddle with it.  I could sleep in it.  I could live in it.  Kinda am.  This particular one is from Topshop.com but apparently sold out everywhere.  Fret not, I have linked some comparable options.  Hope you are able to find love below.  Just a heads up, I plan on wearing this with everything this season which means you’ll be seeing it frequently on le blog and l’Instagram… and wherever else.  Now that that’s settled. SEEING RED We’ve been seeing red lately, no?  I haven’t gone as far as a full-on monochrome red look yet, but could in the future.  In…

Body Conscious

This post isn’t about the “bodycon” tight silhouette look.  Neither is it really about the outfit I am wearing… rather, it is about how I felt wearing it.  In short, not so great after seeing the pictures.  Let me back up for a minute.  Most of us are on some sort of a body journey.  Whether we just think about it or hit the gym like it’s our religion, or fall somewhere in between.  I personally have been working towards my post-babies body really since about a year ago when I found out my husband planned a beach getaway for my birthday.  Since returning from that trip, I stayed the course working towards my body goals — not defined by a particular size (although I would like to fit in all my old clothes) or…

Loving Lately: Kiss That Dry Skin Goodbye

I’m starting a new blog series: loving lately.  In a nutshell, this will be a series of posts about things I have been trying or doing, and loving lately.  The series’ inaugural post is all about my latest skincare finds that combatted my dry skin woes during the seasonal transition to fall. First up, is my new favorite cleanser.  Once upon a time, I used Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser — which I loved.  But as I have mentioned before, I like to try new things.  I switched to Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser.  Loved this one too.  The silky texture of the Kiehl’s cleanser is my favorite part.  It gently cleanses skin without drying it out.  I used it for a couple years, and then decided to change it up again. Introducing new products into…
